Hi! My name is Alyssa Bayus.

For many autistic women, moving through the world requires constant translation. You may have spent a lifetime "reading the room," managing the comfort of others, and masking your own sensory and emotional needs just to belong. I believe therapy should be the one place where you can finally set that heavy mental load down. I work with neurodiverse couples and individuals, specializing in the unique experiences of autistic and ADHD women. My goal is to help you reduce relational friction, advocate for your sensory safety, and build life systems that respect how your brain actually works—free from shame and societal "shoulds."

Reading the Room Early

My parents divorced when I was born, and I grew up moving between different homes, rhythms, and emotional climates. From an early age, I learned to hyper-attune to my environment—noticing small cues, shifting tones, and unspoken needs. That constant translating between worlds taught me how to read nervous systems, an experience that deeply mirrors the masking journey many neurodivergent women navigate daily.

Marriage, Unmasking, and Rebuilding

I spent over twenty years in a marriage that served as a deep teacher about attachment, conflict, boundaries, and the reality of the invisible mental load. When that marriage ended, the divorce became an initiation. I had to start again—slowly and honestly. For many women, rebuilding life (whether after a breakup, burnout, or a late-in-life autism diagnosis) requires courage you didn't know you had. That experience didn’t harden me; it expanded me, proving that rebuilding an authentic, deeply meaningful life is possible.

Motherhood: Immersed in Neurodiversity

I am the parent of three wonderful children who each learn and relate differently. ADHD is the loudest drumbeat in our home, and autism is a core part of our extended family. I understand the intense burnout that comes from managing time blindness, emotional intensity, school demands, and the layered sensory needs of a household. I don’t treat neurodiversity as a theory; I live it every single day.

Specialized Support for Women's Issues

Money, Autonomy, and Relationships: Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a financial planner and advisor. For many women, money is deeply tied to safety, control, freedom, and respect. Executive-function differences can make financial conversations incredibly fraught. I will help you and your partner build a shared language around spending, separate your values from your methods, and protect the relationship with clear, manageable financial roles. Sexual Addiction and Betrayal Trauma: I offer a dedicated track for couples facing sexual acting out and betrayal. My structured pathway strictly prioritizes the emotional and psychological safety of the betrayed partner while requiring concrete accountability from the acting-out partner. Parenting Neurodivergent Kids: Parenting neurodivergent children is a moving target that often leads to maternal burnout. I help you build executive-function scaffolds, externalize plans, and write short, winnable IEP/504 requests. We will map "heat zones" for meltdowns and rotate the family's "primary executive" role so you aren't carrying the household alone.

In the Therapy Room

You can expect short, plain language, concrete skills, and measurable follow-through. We draw from the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and neurodiversity-informed psychoeducation. Every week, we agree on a one-page plan of "what we’re trying"—small, repeatable, testable steps.
