Is This Change Real?

If you're considering staying, the question that matters most is whether real change is happening - or whether you're staying on hope, fear, or pressure while nothing actually shifts. This worksheet helps you look honestly. Staying is a valid choice; so is leaving. The point is only that your choice be grounded in reality, not in wishful thinking or fear.

Hope is not evidence; a good week is not a pattern: Look at what's actually different over time, not at the promises or the relief of a calm stretch. Your eyes, over months, will tell you more than his words.

Signs of real change

Tick what's genuinely true.

  • [ ] He's in real treatment and doing the work
  • [ ] Full transparency without me forcing it
  • [ ] He owns it without blame-shifting
  • [ ] Consistent over months, not just days
  • [ ] My safety genuinely matters to him
  • [ ] The secrecy is truly gone

Signs I might be staying on hope or fear

Tick any that are honestly true.

  • [ ] Nothing's really changed but I keep hoping
  • [ ] I'm staying out of fear (alone, finances, kids)
  • [ ] I'm managing or excusing his behavior
  • [ ] The same patterns keep returning
  • [ ] I've lowered my standards just to cope

Honestly, which list describes my situation more?
